The Philippines on Sunday, September 19, received another 3 million doses of CoronaVac vaccine, bringing the total number of COVID-19 shots delivered to the country to 62,359,810 since February.
The latest vaccine shipment from Sinovac arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport past 6:00 pm via a commercial Philippine Airlines flight.
NTF Chief Implementer and Vaccine czar Carlito G. Galvez, Jr and Police Major Marvin Oloab witnessed the arrival of the vaccines.
According to Galvez, the newest vaccine shipment will be distributed to regions 3, 4-A, 7, 11 and the NCR.
The vaccine czar said the national government is facing challenges in inoculating the country’s senior citizens due to the surge in COVID-19 cases.
“Yung isa sa mga challenges natin, talagang ayaw lumabas ng mga matatanda para magpabakuna dahil takot pa rin ngayon dahil tumaas ang kaso,” he said.
“Palagay ko, ‘pag bumaba na ang kaso natin later on, ‘yung mga nabakunahan na mga senior lumabas na, palagay ko, magkakaroon ng incentives for all our seniors to go out,” Galvez added.
Sinovac has so far delivered 36 million CoronaVac doses to the country, 34,100,000 doses of which were procured by the national government.
